Contractors Break Ground on Porous Asphalt Paving Project

The SCMUA-WRWMG is providing National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and NJDEP grant funding to the Newton School District to pay for the installation of porous asphalt in the Halsted Middle School parking lot. The project is designed to allow stormwater runoff to slowly soak through the pavement to the soil underneath, rather than allowing the water to flow through the paved streets where stormwater runoff would pick up different pollutants (road salt, motor oil, etc.) that could contaminate the Paulins Kill River.
