High Point High School Begins New Restoration Project Along Papakating Creek

Tuesday, May 23, 2017

Advanced Placement Environmental Science students at High Point Regional High School participated in a streamside tree planting day at Wantage Dog Park. Amanda Hayes, the WRWMG’s AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassador, helped organize the event, initiating planting at a new project location within the county. Amanda was especially excited about the day because she is a High Point graduate so this was a chance for her to give back to her former high school and involve them in a stewardship project.

The students planted 200 trees along the stream, with more planting scheduled to take place at the start of the new school year. The Wallkill River Watershed Management Group looks forward to establishing a long-term partnership with High Point High School that will continue to flourish for years to come!
