Members of the Fred S. Burroughs North Jersey Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Hacklebarney Chapter of Trout Unlimited joined the staff of the SCMUA-Wallkill River Watershed Management Group,The Nature Conservancy, and the Open Space Institute out in the field to assist with the expansion of the Paulins Kill reforestation project. To date, over 10,000 trees have been planted next to the river in order to establish a forested buffer that will help improve water quality by cooling the water temperature for fish and aquatic insects, controlling soil erosion along the banks, and preventing pollutant runoff from entering the river.

The SCMUA-WRWMG recently partnered with Trout Unlimited to assist with their Glen Brook Restoration Project in Sparta Township. Both organization look forward to continuing to work together to improve the water quality and habitat conditions of northern New Jersey rivers and streams.
