Wallkill Wildlife Refuge Hosts Tree Planting Event for Local Students

Tuesday, May 11, 2021

The Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge hosted a tree planting event along the Wallkill River at Bassetts Bridge on Saturday. Students from High Point High School in Sussex County, NJ planted trees alongside students from Groundwork Hudson Valley in Yonkers, NJ. Despite the very different conditions where they live, all of the students live within the same watershed which means that polluted runoff entering the Wallkill River will eventually drain into the Hudson River and have a direct impact on water quality in Yonkers.
