McKeown Elementary Hosts 1st Annual STEAM Day!

McKeown Elementary School in Hampton, NJ recently hosted its first annual STEAM Day to encourage a love of science, technology, engineering, art, and math among children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Students became immersed in 14 interactive stations, and 6th grade helpers were assigned to every station to help each activity run smoothly.
The Wallkill River Watershed Management Group was also on hand to run a station at the event. The SCMUA-WRWMG’s Education Specialist worked with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to educate them about the human role in causing water pollution. Students also had an opportunity to observe live aquatic insects and learn about the insects’ different levels of pollution tolerance.
