Rain Garden Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Held at McKeown Elementary

Monday, June 19, 2017

The WRWMG recently organized a ribbon cutting ceremony at McKeown Elementary School in Hampton Township to celebrate the successful installation of its first rain garden at the school. Event attendees included the SCMUA-WRWMG staff, SCMUA Administrator, McKeown Elementary students, teachers, and principal, the Hampton Township Public School Superintendent, the Hampton DPW, the Hampton Mayor and Township Administrator, Rutgers Water Resources Program, NJ Audubon, NJ Department of Environmental Protection, and Cerbo’s Nursery.

Students gave speeches about what they learned from helping to install the rain garden, and they presented each partner with a handmade picture frame with an image of the students standing in front of the rain garden to signify their appreciation for their help with the project.

The SCMUA-WRWMG looks forward to continuing to partner with McKeown School to hopefully install more water quality improvement projects on campus with help from students of all ages at the school.
